Pseudo AR Games FTW!
And I also mentioned iPhone ARKit, an interesting open source project to facilitate augmented reality development for the iPhone. What happens when you merge the two together? this -
It was created by a Japaneses developer going by the nickname mswar, by forking the iPhone ARKit source code and adding OpenGL and GPS geo-positioning. I don't call it augmented reality, because it has nothing to do with our reality, but I do think it has a potential to supply some moments of fun.
More details here (in Japanese).

I saw that Japanese game too. I had high hopes based on the title, but the resulting video was strange and I didn't know what to make of it. It seemed about the same as the Virus360, so I decided, 'meh'.
I think developers need to start with simple object recognition for creating games that actually use the space around you. My vote would be for door frames. Lots of them around, easy to find with a computer and give you a nice 'frame' for the game.
That's funny, I thought about using manholes for the same reasons :). They can complement each other - doors for indoors, manholes for outdoors.
I think we have a start-up here :)
Cheesy! That was on camphones long time ago. Good thig post title has word pseudo. The girl from the video uses augmented reality as buzzword. That's bad.
